Zul133 Photo Journal: 2nd Day of 2nd June Inter-School Kendo Workshop

The 2nd Day of Kendo workshop held on the 21st June, 2008 (Saturday).
Another brilliant day of kendo start in the early mornings. The morning session is an advanced technique session or more Waza practice. Firstly, the Nidan-waza.
Ni-dan means Two step or 2 stages. well basically saying Nidan waza means we attack 2 points in one time i.e: Kote-men, Men-do & kote do. This has to do fast at a time. The seniors again divide them into groups, so wat ever their technique of teaching, but its bascially the same. the purpose of doing this waza is if the 1st attack fails to get an ippon, but the 2nd point can be the good ippon.

Next was the..if im not mistaken the Kirikaeshi?? Its the most important thing every kendoka have to know n master. because in doing kirikaeshi, a kendoka can make their cuts very efficient during any time. its one of the "must to do" exercise. with one big men forward, and sayu men 4 times start at the right side forward, and backward 5 times sayumen start at the right side of the men. repeatedly twice and last one end with a big men.

3rd practice was the practice of Ni-hon Kendo Kata. One of the major practice for Kendo grading. Ni hon kendo kata have 7 kata using normal length bokuto, and 3 are using short length bokuto or kodachi giving a total of 10 Katas. but this day, they only practice kendo no. 1. I train one of the group for this kata. its kinda fun. n very efficient. Bear in mind that, this kata have to do in pairs, so if one of the team spoil, both of them will be spoil.

when it came to the end of morning session, we end with a warm down. and rei. Now its time for Lunch ..and its Onigiri time. Onigiri were prepared by Neeza senpai. We had a tuna mayo Onigiri which is so "nyaman". well its more delicious if you add up the onigiri wif WASABI!!! yarrr!

The afternoon session wat i remember was just a kendo war. but there was a session that i dont really know. because i keep on taking pics of everyone...literally. ehehe
Anyway, the kendo war was abit fierce n more life like this time.. but still i dont really like to se pepol doing the war without proper kendo techniques...if they think that they won..they're totally wrong dude... they are the one that lost..ahaha

These are the delegates that came from Belait Kendo Club. large turn out (18 + me = 19pepol, but anothe 1 came late in the afternoon) total of 20pepol sacrificing their time n money to come all the way from KB to Bndr.
